Our Story - Family Owned & Operated

In 1830, Jonathon Russell built the original Marietta House to accommodate weary stagecoach travelers along the Skaneateles/Hamilton Turnpike. In 1935, the original building was destroyed by fire and the owners Don and Ethel Dillon relocated the restaurant to a barn behind the original building.

In 1969 Eugene ‘Tom’ Donovan purchased the business from the Dillons. The business remained "Dillons" until 1984, then after many renovations and for sake of history the name reverted to the original Marietta House. Eugene ‘Tom’ Donovan successfully operated this local favorite with the help of family until his passing at the age of 90.

Now 2024’ the Marietta House is still family owned & operated by Eugene’s youngest son Thomas ‘Todd’ Donovan; Alongside his wife Jennifer and Son (chef) Riley, Todd plans to operate another 55+ years of service to the community.
